Nessa's Story

Nessa is named after the United States Olympic Gymnast, Vanessa Atler. Our eldest daughter is a USA Gymnastics competitive gymnast. We thought it fitting that in this Summer Olympic year we name our puppy in a gymnastics theme. "Nessa" after Vanessa, and "A Perfect Ten" as a goal of perfection. In gymnastics, the highest event score an athlete can earn is 10.0. Nessa is certainly a ten in our books, and if you ask me, perfect in every way.

Nessa joined out family in September, 1999. At 11 weeks old, she let the entire airport know she was in town! I can't tell you how impressed I was when I opened her crate and found the most confident and beautiful puppy that I have ever met. None the worse for wear from her flight, Nessa greeted me with puppy kisses and a wagging tail. Love at first sight on both our parts, that's for sure!

Nessa is our first show puppy. She came to us from a kennel that has an impressive history of home bred champions. My sincerest hope for Nessa is to finish her in the conformation ring. We are off to a good start, but not without the support of Nessa's breeder and my handling instructor. Nessa is a natural born show dog. She exudes self confidence and is eager to please. Can you say "attitude"? Learning to handle with a puppy like Nessa is a blessing; she practically shows herself!

Special thanks to Sherry Anderson, Sher-Mi Labradors, for entrusting us with this very special girl.
